Quasar: The Art of a Second Life

Sergey Kozhukhovsky We are all cosmic dust, whether in the future or the present. Yet, free movement toward a perfect goal leads to transformation. Art and heroism are eternal—they grant immortality. The great pioneers of space—Yuri Gagarin, German Titov, Vladimir Dzhanibekov—inspired me to create a series of works dedicated to space through the lens of environmental awareness. Unwanted objects in space could become a new global challenge. One day, they may accumulate to such an extent that launching new satellites will no longer be possible. Frozen performances and planar installations in the provocative Upcycling technique always represent a metaphorical dialogue between the artist and an engaged viewer about the possibility of granting a “second life” to discarded objects. And this life is in art. The artist’s personal aspirations and keen awareness of overproduction and overconsumption shape a new ethical and aesthetic vision of creativity.
